How to Bid Adieu to Dirty Paw Prints on Your Carpet Forever

How to Bid Adieu to Dirty Paw Prints on Your Carpet Forever

No matter how much you love your dog, it’s unlikely that you love his muddy footprints on your carpet. It may feel that no matter how well you wipe them off, there is always at least the ghost of mud tracked through your home. If you have given up and accepted that this is a necessity, we have good news for you: Pet-friendly artificial grass is the answer you have been looking for.

Install Artificial Grass and Muddy Carpet Will Be a Thing of the Past

It is likely that one of the main reasons your pet gets mud on its paws is from mud created in your yard. When it rains, grass is soaked and can stay soaked due to poor drainage. If your yard has high clay components, as many in California do, then it can hold water even longer. Even dust on the grass can turn into mud.

However, if you have artificial grass in your yard, you have a multi-layer subsurface installation that helps your grass perform exceptionally well. It does not matter how much rain you get, you will not have to deal with puddling or sogginess. There will be no mud. Not only does this make it cleaner than grass, but it is pretty every day of the year too.

Create Your Own Washing Station

Unless you cover every inch of your property in artificial grass, and never let your dog off of your property, they are still likely to get muddy from time to time. This is why we recommend creating a washing station. It could be as simple as a pot of water kept near the door when it is raining. When your dog is ready to come in, just quickly bathe their feet and wipe them dry. There are also doggy doormats, pet cleaning gloves, and other specialty products made specifically to clean your pet’s feet.

Consider Pet Footwear

Rain boots can be found for pets of all sizes and types. Some of them are so easy to maintain because they can be thrown right into the washer. Of course, many dogs will refuse to wear them. If you know that your dog generally does not like wearing clothing, or objects to you getting near his feet as all, this is likely not the best option.

Keep Your Dog’s Feet Trimmed

If your dog has extra fur between the pads of their paws, there is more area for mud to collect. Trim the fur to ensure that it does not protrude. Clipping their nails can be very helpful as well. The trimmer their feet are, the likelier they are to stay clean.
